We Came, We Saw, We Flowed: TFX at Inglewood Open Studios 2024
What happens when a community lets creativity take the lead? Something Flowlicious happens.
On November 9, 2024, the Inglewood Public Library quad transformed into a living mural of creative expression. As part of the 2024 Inglewood Open Studios (IOS) ArtWalk and Tour, The FlowliciousXperience (TFX) offered a spontaneous symphony of art, music, and play.
TFX, created by poet and artist Adwin David Brown, isn’t just an event; it’s an unfolding moment of community expression.
The Heartbeat of Community
TFX is a reminder that art isn’t just something we see—it’s something we live. At the heart of TFX was a live drum circle, an open invitation to the rhythm of connection and the pulse of play led by master Senegalese drummer Dethie Sarr Diouf courtesy of Inglewood's Motherland Music. Children, elders, and everyone in between grabbed a drum and felt the beat flow from hands to heart.
A Canvas of Playful Possibilities
Imagination erupted and turned the quad into a playground of spontaneity. Children blew bubbles that bobbed and drifted in the sunlight. Craft tables buzzed with young and grown hands drawing, folding and throwing paper planes between the bubbles. Adults rediscovered their inner child, brushed the dust off long-forgotten creativity and colored outside the lines. The quad became a canvas, every corner bursting with color, joy, flowlaboration, and fun.
The Magic of The Flow
TFX is the celebration of the infinite Flow—an experience of uncapped creativity. TFX isn’t about the perfect painting or the perfect beat. It’s about showing up, contributing, and letting your unique You merge with others’. The beauty of The Flow isn’t in its permanence but in its momentary magic—a shared experience as fleeting and lovely as a bubble drifting by a paper plane gliding on the wind.
A Shared Vision for Inglewood’s Future
TFX alongside IOS wasn’t just fun; it was a vision of Inglewood’s creative potential. Families left inspired, neighbors became friends, and everyone took home a little piece of The Flow. TFX showcased how art and play can ignite a community, creating connections that linger long after the paint dries, and the drums fall silent.
"We came, we saw, we Flowed."
These simple words sum up the day perfectly. TFX isn’t just an event; it’s an invitation to flow with life, to express, to connect, and to celebrate what it means to be human.
